bell ringing Peals

A team of ringers, drawn from near and far, came to the Tower on 16th March 2024, to attempt to ring a Peal. This was the second successful peal attempted on our new bells, and the sound was terrific. Congratulations to the team on the achievement.

The Band was made up of experienced ringers from the surrounding area, with the conductor coming from Cornwall!

The Method (Music) was Steadman Triples, a musical and difficult method to ring.

There were 5,040 unrepeated changes or musical notes.

The Band Comprised 8 ringers from various towers. Conductor John Pladdys travelled up from Cornwall. John is well known for ringing Steadman and may well have rung them more than anyone else.

The whole performance took 3hrs 2mins without stopping!

The ringers don’t have any aides to do this, it is all committed to memory and performed with 100th of a second timing. Quite an incredible feat.
